Manual therapy – FizjoStyl Krakow

Restoring balance in the body through manipulation of joints, muscles, tendons and other anatomical structures

Manual therapy

Manual therapy in physiotherapy is a comprehensive treatment method focusing on hands-on manipulative techniques that aim to improve the function of the musculoskeletal system.

As manual therapists, we use a variety of techniques, such as joint mobilisation, manipulation, soft tissue massage and stretching, to reduce pain, improve range of motion and restore biomechanical balance.

The therapist's individual approach includes postural assessment, movement analysis and identifying areas of restriction.

Manual therapy can be used in the treatment of a variety of conditions, including back pain, joint dysfunction and sports injuries, as well as in rehabilitation after surgery.

It works holistically, taking into account both the physical and psychosocial aspects of the patient and supporting them in returning to full fitness.

I am very pleased with our appointment with Ms Marta. From the very beginning her tremendous commitment and professionalism were evident. Ms Marta took a very thorough history, asked about the details and calmly explained everything. I felt that she genuinely wanted to understand the whole situation, rather than just quickly assess my child.

The appointment lasted a full hour and forty minutes – nobody rushed us, and all the attention was focused on my daughter. I really appreciate that Ms Marta had her own opinion and didn't just say what a parent would like to hear. She was able to present her observations calmly and objectively, even when they differed from my assumptions.

She has a wonderful way with such young children. You could see a great deal of patience and experience. Even when my daughter didn't always want to cooperate, Ms Marta was able to adapt the assessment to what she could manage. I left with a wealth of knowledge and the feeling that my child had been in good hands. I definitely recommend Ms Marta.

I warmly recommend Ms Weronika! I came to her at 30 weeks pregnant with terrible back pain radiating to my breastbone, which meant I could only sit and had trouble breathing. Ms Weronika showed tremendous knowledge, complete professionalism, commitment and empathy. She used gentle, safe techniques as well as taping. The relief was immediate – I left the practice pain-free, could finally breathe freely and lie down without pain. A wonderful specialist!

I've just had my first appointment with Ms Weronika Kukuś and I'm left with a very positive impression. Ms Weronika was professional, took a thorough history, explained everything clearly and proposed a treatment plan. The appointment took place in a pleasant atmosphere and I felt very well looked after.
I truly recommend her with all my heart!

You feel looked after from your very first contact with the practice! The receptionist is absolutely lovely. The appointment itself with Weronika Kukuś, MSc – worth every złoty. A fantastic approach to the patient; every part of the appointment was discussed so that nothing would take me by surprise or feel uncomfortable. The factors the doctor focused on were analysed in detail according to their importance, followed by a summary of which muscle work I should concentrate on after the appointment. During the appointment the doctor checked several times that everything was clear to me, worked with me at the pace I needed and, as I say, from the very first moments at FizjoStyl I felt that as a patient I had come to a place where I matter most and where everyone is keen to help me and make sure I feel comfortable. We need more places like this!

A cosy green practice
My daughter had an appointment with Mr Konrad – a very nice way with children, he quickly built a rapport with her. He thoroughly examined what was causing her open-mouth problem, recommended suitable exercises to do at home and follow-up appointments every so often to monitor how her muscles are working with the orthodontic brace.
An added bonus is the convenient location – close to public transport, with a large car park on Wolska Street.

Highly recommended! As soon as you walk in, you can see that the practice is attractive and welcoming, and the atmosphere makes you feel at ease. The urogynaecological physiotherapy was carried out professionally and with great attentiveness. Ms Weronika is exceptionally competent – it's immediately clear that she has extensive knowledge and experience. The appointment took place in a relaxed atmosphere and I felt completely looked after. I will certainly be back, both to continue the therapy and for other treatments.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What happens at an appointment with a manual therapist?

We start by assessing your posture, analysing your movement and finding areas of restriction. Then we work with our hands – using joint mobilisation, manipulation, soft tissue massage and stretching – to reduce pain and improve range of motion.

Is manual therapy the same as massage?

No. Soft tissue massage is just one of the techniques – alongside it we use joint mobilisation and manipulation, and stretching.

Does a manual therapist adjust the spine?

When needed, we use HVLA manipulation techniques – the ones with the characteristic click – for example for a locked spine, joint or rib. In our videos we explain what these techniques can achieve and what they cannot.

What problems can manual therapy help with?

We use it for, among other things, back and neck pain, joint dysfunction and restricted joint mobility, stabbing pain under the shoulder blade and sports injuries, as well as in rehabilitation after surgery.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book an appointment without a referral – just choose a time online or give us a call.

Do you accept NFZ (Poland's public health fund) patients?

No, we only see private patients. You will find our prices in the price list.

Where are you based?

We have two clinics in Krakow: ul. Wolska 2a (Prokocim) and ul. Wicherkiewicza 23/K (Kliny). Home visits are also available.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Any imaging results you have (X-ray, ultrasound, MRI) and hospital discharge summaries, plus comfortable clothing. More in the patient information.

How do I book?

The quickest way is online – the “Book a visit” button opens a calendar with available times. You can also call: 881 505 588 or book through Booksy or ZnanyLekarz.

I don't know which therapist to choose. What should I do?

Book a free 15-minute consultation. We will discuss your problem and suggest which therapy and which therapist suit it.
