Craniosacral osteopathy – FizjoStyl Krakow

Restoring structural balance in the skull and sacrum

Craniosacral osteopathy is a speciality within osteopathy that focuses on diagnosing and treating dysfunctions related to the skull, the sacrum and the surrounding structures.

Craniosacral osteopathy

Using gentle manual techniques, craniosacral osteopaths aim to restore structural balance, reduce muscle tension and improve the function of joints and tissues in the head, face, neck and sacrum.

This form of osteopathy is used in the treatment of headaches, migraines, temporomandibular disorders, balance and postural problems, and to support rehabilitation after injuries or surgery.

Craniosacral osteopathy can also be used with children and infants, particularly when there are feeding difficulties or sleep problems.

This holistic approach to health focuses on the integral connection between the body's structures and their effect on the patient's overall wellbeing.

Who is it for?

Headaches and migraines

Craniosacral osteopathy can be used to treat headaches and migraines, which are often linked to tension and dysfunction of the cranial structures.

Temporomandibular disorders

Osteopathic manipulation of the skull can affect the temporomandibular joint, which is important in TMJ (temporomandibular joint) dysfunction – that is, problems opening and closing the mouth, jaw pain and other related symptoms.

Balance and postural problems

Craniosacral osteopathy can be used to restore structural balance, which can affect posture and reduce muscle tension.

Sleep disorders

Disturbances of the cranial structures can affect sleep quality. Craniosacral osteopathy can help reduce tension, improve the flow of cerebrospinal fluid and improve sleep quality.

Treatment after injury

After injuries to the head or sacrum, craniosacral osteopathy can be used to support healing, reduce pain and restore the function of the structures.

Use in neonatology

Craniosacral osteopathy is sometimes used with newborns and infants who have feeding difficulties, restless sleep or other problems resulting from dysfunction of the cranial structures.

Post-operative problems

After surgery on the skull or sacrum, craniosacral osteopathy can be used as part of rehabilitation, supporting healing and restoring the function of the structures.

Headache without pills: relaxing the back of the head

Lying on a mat, place your fists under the back of your head and make small up-and-down movements with your head until you feel it relax.

An eye exercise for headaches

Keep your head still, look to the right for a minute, then to the left for a minute – relaxes the head and neck area.

Neck lengthening with breathing

Hold yourself under the ribs, take a deep breath in, and as you breathe out press your neck into the mat – repeat for a few minutes.

The exercises in these videos are general guidance. If your pain is severe, getting worse or not going away, book a consultation.

I am very pleased with our appointment with Ms Marta. From the very beginning her tremendous commitment and professionalism were evident. Ms Marta took a very thorough history, asked about the details and calmly explained everything. I felt that she genuinely wanted to understand the whole situation, rather than just quickly assess my child.

The appointment lasted a full hour and forty minutes – nobody rushed us, and all the attention was focused on my daughter. I really appreciate that Ms Marta had her own opinion and didn't just say what a parent would like to hear. She was able to present her observations calmly and objectively, even when they differed from my assumptions.

She has a wonderful way with such young children. You could see a great deal of patience and experience. Even when my daughter didn't always want to cooperate, Ms Marta was able to adapt the assessment to what she could manage. I left with a wealth of knowledge and the feeling that my child had been in good hands. I definitely recommend Ms Marta.

I warmly recommend Ms Weronika! I came to her at 30 weeks pregnant with terrible back pain radiating to my breastbone, which meant I could only sit and had trouble breathing. Ms Weronika showed tremendous knowledge, complete professionalism, commitment and empathy. She used gentle, safe techniques as well as taping. The relief was immediate – I left the practice pain-free, could finally breathe freely and lie down without pain. A wonderful specialist!

You feel looked after from your very first contact with the practice! The receptionist is absolutely lovely. The appointment itself with Weronika Kukuś, MSc – worth every złoty. A fantastic approach to the patient; every part of the appointment was discussed so that nothing would take me by surprise or feel uncomfortable. The factors the doctor focused on were analysed in detail according to their importance, followed by a summary of which muscle work I should concentrate on after the appointment. During the appointment the doctor checked several times that everything was clear to me, worked with me at the pace I needed and, as I say, from the very first moments at FizjoStyl I felt that as a patient I had come to a place where I matter most and where everyone is keen to help me and make sure I feel comfortable. We need more places like this!

A cosy green practice
My daughter had an appointment with Mr Konrad – a very nice way with children, he quickly built a rapport with her. He thoroughly examined what was causing her open-mouth problem, recommended suitable exercises to do at home and follow-up appointments every so often to monitor how her muscles are working with the orthodontic brace.
An added bonus is the convenient location – close to public transport, with a large car park on Wolska Street.

Highly recommended! As soon as you walk in, you can see that the practice is attractive and welcoming, and the atmosphere makes you feel at ease. The urogynaecological physiotherapy was carried out professionally and with great attentiveness. Ms Weronika is exceptionally competent – it's immediately clear that she has extensive knowledge and experience. The appointment took place in a relaxed atmosphere and I felt completely looked after. I will certainly be back, both to continue the therapy and for other treatments.
