Jaw (TMJ) physiotherapy – FizjoStyl Krakow

Diagnosing and treating disorders of the mouth, jaw and face

Jaw (TMJ) physiotherapy

Jaw (TMJ) physiotherapy is a specialised area of rehabilitation that focuses on improving the function of the masticatory system and the mouth.
It's an extremely important branch of dentistry that helps patients combat pain and restore full function of the mouth.

During sessions we use a variety of therapeutic techniques, such as soft tissue massage, manual therapy and rehabilitation exercises, to reduce muscle tension and improve the mobility of the jaw joints.

Jaw physiotherapy is particularly useful for patients suffering from chewing problems, headaches or complex dental conditions.

It's aimed at reducing tension in the upper and lower jaw, temples, neck and inside the mouth. The goal of jaw physiotherapy is to restore normal movement of the temporomandibular joints.

It helps with jaw clicking, bruxism and an uneven bite, and supports orthodontic treatment.

Who is it for?

  • bruxism – teeth grinding
  • temporomandibular joint disorders
  • jaw popping/clicking
  • cracking in the jaw
  • difficulty opening the mouth
  • difficulty sticking out the tongue
  • pain in the upper and lower jaw
  • jaw tension
  • pain radiating to the lower or upper jaw

I am very pleased with our appointment with Ms Marta. From the very beginning her tremendous commitment and professionalism were evident. Ms Marta took a very thorough history, asked about the details and calmly explained everything. I felt that she genuinely wanted to understand the whole situation, rather than just quickly assess my child.

The appointment lasted a full hour and forty minutes – nobody rushed us, and all the attention was focused on my daughter. I really appreciate that Ms Marta had her own opinion and didn't just say what a parent would like to hear. She was able to present her observations calmly and objectively, even when they differed from my assumptions.

She has a wonderful way with such young children. You could see a great deal of patience and experience. Even when my daughter didn't always want to cooperate, Ms Marta was able to adapt the assessment to what she could manage. I left with a wealth of knowledge and the feeling that my child had been in good hands. I definitely recommend Ms Marta.

I warmly recommend Ms Weronika! I came to her at 30 weeks pregnant with terrible back pain radiating to my breastbone, which meant I could only sit and had trouble breathing. Ms Weronika showed tremendous knowledge, complete professionalism, commitment and empathy. She used gentle, safe techniques as well as taping. The relief was immediate – I left the practice pain-free, could finally breathe freely and lie down without pain. A wonderful specialist!

Ms Weronika was professional, took a thorough history, explained everything clearly and proposed a treatment plan. The appointment took place in a pleasant atmosphere and I felt very well looked after.
I truly recommend her with all my heart!

You feel looked after from your very first contact with the practice! The receptionist is absolutely lovely. The appointment itself with Weronika Kukuś, MSc – worth every złoty. A fantastic approach to the patient; every part of the appointment was discussed so that nothing would take me by surprise or feel uncomfortable. The factors the doctor focused on were analysed in detail according to their importance, followed by a summary of which muscle work I should concentrate on after the appointment. During the appointment the doctor checked several times that everything was clear to me, worked with me at the pace I needed and, as I say, from the very first moments at FizjoStyl I felt that as a patient I had come to a place where I matter most and where everyone is keen to help me and make sure I feel comfortable. We need more places like this!

A cosy green practice
My daughter had an appointment with Mr Konrad – a very nice way with children, he quickly built a rapport with her. He thoroughly examined what was causing her open-mouth problem, recommended suitable exercises to do at home and follow-up appointments every so often to monitor how her muscles are working with the orthodontic brace.
An added bonus is the convenient location – close to public transport, with a large car park on Wolska Street.

Highly recommended! As soon as you walk in, you can see that the practice is attractive and welcoming, and the atmosphere makes you feel at ease. The urogynaecological physiotherapy was carried out professionally and with great attentiveness. Ms Weronika is exceptionally competent – it's immediately clear that she has extensive knowledge and experience. The appointment took place in a relaxed atmosphere and I felt completely looked after. I will certainly be back, both to continue the therapy and for other treatments.
